Since debuting in March 2004 at North Carolina’s Mountain View correctionalInstitute, the ground breaking One Day with God Child/inmate camps have been received with great enthusiasm by parents, children, and prison officials alike. The child and inmate parent are guided through a series of spiritually based events involving a mixture of relationship building and fun, designed to open a dialog and begin the process of healing and reconciliation.

Both child and parent are prepared in advance for an event that is both structured and balanced. Tears often flow, especially as the time together ends, but participants leave with a renewed sense of hope for the future and anticipation of more relationship building to come.

In 2005 Forgiven Ministry joined a collaboration of over 30 national ministries comprising Operation Starting Line, a 12-year evangelistic effort under the leadership of Prison Fellowship Ministries to take the gospel to every prison in the United States. Forgiven Ministry has pledged to conduct two One Day with God camps per year as part of this collaboration in addition to past and present camps in North Carolina, Louisiana, Colorado, South Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, and Tennessee. Michigan will host a camp in 2009.
